How To Take Good Care Of Your Sports Watch
Most sports watches do more than just tell the time. There are those carrying sophisticated features such as a chronograph, heart rate monitor, and the likes. That's why they are suitable for sports enthusiasts and techies alike.
Sure their looks give them this certain bulletproof appeal. However, even sports watches need some form of caring and maintenance. If you own one and wish to prolong its life, read on. The way you care for your timepiece will have an impact on how long it'll be around of use.
Let's begin with the strap. If your sports watch's strap is made of durable polyurethane, then it requires little caring. For removing stains, cleaning it with a soft toothbrush, soap and water will do the trick. But for daily cleaning, wiping it with a damp soft cloth is enough. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperature changes.
Aside from plastic material, some sports watches have leather straps. Caring for its strap is pretty much the same as a typical leather watch requires. Even if it's designed to be worn for sports or vigorous activities, TLC must be given to it. Minimize direct exposure to sunlight. Immediately pat with a cloth and let air dry after getting it wet with sweat or seawater.
Just because your wristwatch is shock resistant doesn't mean you can treat it carelessly. While your sports watch may be constructed with shock absorbent fittings, try not to put it to the test. Avoid dropping or banging it against a hard surface. The mechanism will break down, especially when repeatedly exposed to unwanted shocks.
Perhaps no other part of your sports watch needs as much caring as the graphic lcd. Even if it claims that it's scratch-proof, hitting it hard against something can break it. Usually, a dry cloth is enough for wiping the surface clean. But if a damp one is needed, just use water, and never solvents or other abrasive chemicals.
One way of telling if the battery is running out is if your wristwatch is giving you an inaccurate time reading. Also, the led backlight flickers or dims. Smacking the timepiece with your palm or hitting it against your lap won't extend the battery life. Instead, bring it to an expert for battery replacement.
Something that's water resistant is definitely not water proof! Water resistant watches mean its okay for them to get occasional splashes of water. What you can use for swimming are those that are water proof. If you own one that's water proof, it's best to read the manual to know just how far you can get it wet.
