Lose That Unwanted Weight

With social and career success being firmly rooted in modern life, physical appearance is more important than ever. The popular image of a successful person seems to be built around fitness in both the physical and moral aspects, a sort of a physical and moral correctness.
Many People are interested in keeping themselves in good shape, especially after a winter of eating heavier foods.
Are you eating enough vegies and fruits? No? You always look at your diet first when it comes to losing weight. Do this, and you will have taken the first step in your weight-loss journey. Stop relying on those quick fix junk food habits, and instead look at the healthier alternatives.
You can get more great weight loss information from the weight loss file
Do you rely heavily on chips, soft drinks or junk food to get through the day? Vegetables and fruits are a must, Are you eating enough? Whilst you might enjoy the occasional spoiling of a hamburger, chips and a soft drink as a satisfying combination, it can also pose a deadly health hazard to your health. To stay fit you must stop eating high-powered food that contains too much energy.
Energy is one of the things your body likes to store so it can be used later on. Hamburgers and chips are high in energy, so eating these and living a rather lazy lifestyle will give your body a lot more energy then is needed.
But energy can't be thrown away, so it is then converted into fat. This is why you need to stop eating junk and start eating fresh fruits and vegetables to live a healthier lifestyle.
The next step is to get active. While a healthy diet makes sure you don't consume more energy then you need, excercise is needed to help get rid of the energy already stored. It's ok to take a brisk walk after a meal, it's good to exercise half an hour a day, and it's perfect to go to the gym an hour a day, 5 days a week.
Don't starve or exhaust yourself as you will find you will begin binge eating or drinking. Try and make Diet and exercising fun with a bit of thinking and positive attitude.
gym +weight loss question?
the price for my gym is £44 to begin, then £24 a month, is this a good price??
and i will be going regulary to tone up and i eat healthily. i don't need to lose weight.
its just i have seen quite a few people who go to the gym, and have been going a while and look no thinner and are still large. I don't understand why they havn't lost. why havn't they? does that mean i wont tone or lose a bit of weight after all that money?
The £44 is most likely a one-off joining fee. You can probably negotiate that away if you are confident enough haggling. Also, leaving the date you join until the end of a month can help - the salesperson probably has monthly new membership targets to meet and may be anxious to get you to join. Of course, they may have hit their targets already in which case they will be less likely to waive it.
The regular £24 - assuming it isn't increasing after 3/6 months sounds quite good. London gyms tend to be pricey, and also some gyms offer off-peak membership which is cheaper but will usually stop you visiting in the evenings (which are busier).
Back in January 2008, the money supplement in my Sunday paper - the Observer - ran an article on saving money at the gym (most people tend to join as a new year resolution). I have attached the link to the relevant article below.
I am a member through the PruHealth partnership (a private health insurance company). They have partnerships with three gym companies, and through them my wife and I get the health insurance AND the gym at £20 less than we used to pay for just the gym. There is also some scope to increase those savings even more from the renewal date, but I will have to wait a while to see how that pans out.
As to the second part of your question, that may be down to one of the following:
1. They probably don't do much exercise much at the gym. Just joining isn't enough - you need to go to the place and put some effort in!
2. They are probably doing the wrong sort of exercise; if you want to lose weight (and I know that you have said you don't) then lifting weights won't help - cardio (eg. cycling and running with a fairly high heart rate) is what will help them.
3. The one that caught me out when I started four years ago - your body craves more energy to fuel the new exercise regime. I used to get home and eat a pizza because I was 'hungry'! I was obese at the time and my weight went up over the following months. When I swapped the pizza for beans on toast that was when the results came! Calories in = Calories out = no gain/loss.
4. Their body shape. Some people will always find it harder to lose weight.
One point to consider is that the gym will almost certainly involve you entering into a contract to pay them for the next 12 (or more) months. As the article says, most people don't keep it up. If your enthusiasm wanes after a few weeks then it will become a waste of money. Don't think of it as costing you £24, but as £300, just spread over 12 instalments.
I find it helpful to set goals. I do a lot of running - competing at 5K, 10K and Half Marathon, so planning out which races I will try and set a new personal record at helps. I also have a fairly rigid routine I keep to (4 days at the gym in the week, and a 6mile+ road run on Sundays). That said, I do allow myself to have mid-December to mid-January off as a doss month and hardly do anything.
For you, your target might be looking good in a bikini. It doesn't really matter what it is, it's just that it can give you a nudge when all you want to do is sit in front of the TV of an evening.
Hope this helped.
