Life
Experiences & Education:
Born
in New York City, I
have been traveling ever since, after moving to Baltimore
at age 2. I was educated at Boston University, (Political
Science), Sarah Lawrence College, (Psychology and
Modern Dance) and UC Santa Cruz (Psychology).
I love to experience different
places. At 19, I took the train across Canada and then
made my way down the West Coast to stay with friends
in California. I have been lucky enough to travel to
India, Bali and Australia. My current favorite is the
South of France, near the Pyreneés. I look forward
to exploring Ireland, Scotland, Tuscany, Nepal and
Thailand.
My first trip to Hawaii
was in 1977, when I first spent time on Maui and Kauai
and hiked the Na Pali trail. After working in the film
industry in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, and having
an alternative healing practice in Santa Fe and Taos,
New Mexico, I finally got back to my First Love, Hawaii.
I have been living here in beauty ever since.
Living
Aloha:
The
transition to living in Hawaii was a compelling experience.
Since then my time in real estate has been primarily
devoted to helping others to make that transition.
I know what it's like to be the new person in town.
Being comfortable in Hawaii
means learning about Hawaiian ways, from Hawaiian language
and culture to hula to lomi lomi (Hawaiian Massage).
But most of all it is a way of being and the best way
I know to feel that is to get to know Hawaiian people
and to begin to understand their attitudes towards
the land, water and nature (The 'Aina). Caring about
the environment and our neighbors is a necessity in
a fragile ecosystem like ours.
After ten years in the islands,
mostly on Kauai and Big Island, I have settled on the
Pahoa side of Big Island, primarily because of its
wild natural beauty, the proximity to Pele, and to
Hilo, where a lot is happening culturally, and Pahoa,
where it is all happening counterculturally :-). I
still am happy to work in Kona and South Kona, as well
as the Hamakua and Waimea, and even Kauai, when my
clients' needs call for it.
